Terms of Service

1. The product

Alphred is a local-first desktop AI agent for Windows and Mac. It provides chat, computer use, browser control, memory and voice on your PC. Optional features may include a search gateway, image generation and one-click Connectors that link third-party accounts so Alphred can perform actions you request with your permission. Using the local agent does not require sending your chats or files to Alphred servers.

2. Eligibility

You must be old enough to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction (and at least 13 years of age, or the higher age required where you live). If you use Alphred on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you have authority to bind that organisation to these Terms.

3. Licence

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use Alphred on Windows or Mac devices you own or control for your own lawful purposes. You may not copy, modify, distribute, reverse engineer (except to the extent this restriction is prohibited by law), rent or create derivative works of Alphred except as we expressly allow.

4. Plans and optional online services

The local agent is designed so core capabilities can run on your device. Optional online services (such as Alphred-operated search, image generation or managed Connectors) may require an Alphred account, credits or a paid plan. Plan details, if offered, will be shown in the product or on alphred.ai at the time of purchase. Bring-your-own-key (BYOK) options may remain available where we support them. We may verify licence entitlement without accessing your chat content.

5. Your responsibilities

• Keep your device and accounts secure
• Use Alphred only in compliance with applicable laws
• Do not use Alphred to harm others, spam, commit fraud or violate third-party rights
• Do not attempt to bypass security, rate limits, licence checks or access controls
• Ensure you have rights to any content you upload or ask Alphred to process
• Supervise computer-use and browser actions Alphred performs on your machine

6. AI outputs and computer use

Alphred may generate text, suggestions, summaries, tool actions, computer control steps, browser actions or other outputs using AI. Outputs can be wrong, incomplete, biased or unsafe. You are responsible for reviewing outputs and approving actions before relying on them, especially for legal, medical, financial, safety-critical or irreversible actions. Alphred is not a substitute for professional advice.

7. Connectors and third-party services

Connectors and other third-party integrations are optional. By connecting a service, you authorise Alphred to use tokens and permissions you grant to call that service's APIs. You must comply with each provider's terms (Google, GitHub, Notion, Microsoft, Slack and others). We are not responsible for third-party services, outages, policy changes or data handling by those providers. You can disconnect Connectors at any time.

8. Local data and your content

You retain ownership of content you create in Alphred. You grant us only the limited rights needed to operate features you enable (for example storing conversations locally, encrypting vault secrets, sending prompts to an AI host you configure, or fulfilling an optional Alphred online request you initiate). You are responsible for backing up important data.

9. Acceptable use of connected accounts

You may only connect accounts you are authorised to use. Do not use Alphred to access or exfiltrate data you are not entitled to, or to automate abuse of third-party platforms.

10. Updates and changes

We may update Alphred, disable features or change these Terms. Material Terms updates will be reflected by a new "Last updated" date on this page. Continued use after changes become effective constitutes acceptance, except where the law requires otherwise.

11. Disclaimer of warranties

ALPHRED IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT ALPHRED WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS.

12. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF ALPHRED, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO ALPHRED WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR ALPHRED IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR (B) USD $50.

13. Indemnity

You agree to defend and indemnify us against claims arising from your misuse of Alphred, your content, your connected accounts or your violation of these Terms or applicable law, except to the extent caused by our willful misconduct.

14. Termination

You may stop using Alphred at any time by uninstalling it. We may suspend or terminate access to updates, licensing, optional online services or related services if you violate these Terms. Sections that by nature should survive (including disclaimers, limitations and indemnity) will survive termination.

15. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, excluding conflict-of-law rules, unless mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence require otherwise. Courts in England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to those mandatory protections.
